Executive Committee
The purpose of the Executive Committee is to educate and advocate issues impacting the Maine Association of Group Care Members with legislators/bureaucrats and to develop organizational capacity. Our
committee has a goal to develop the resources to hire pa id staff for the Association. This would allow the Association to
develop its organizational capacity and assist members in more effectively advocating for members needs. Another major goal of this committee
is to scan the legislative/rule making arenas of state government in order to advocate for the interests of providers of group care to children and adolescents. Some of the activities completed in
this past year: The committee responded though joint advocacy to successfully challenge the implementation and timing of Managed Care. Specifically Committee members met with Selected State Officials to discuss planning issues which have direct impact on group care. Goals for 2006-2007 include the development of a system for quick response to emerging issues such as Managed Care, the shift in using Foster Care rather than Group Care and Legislative changes such as Section 65 M & N..
